Distances

Distance of two points: it is the shortest distance between them, the length of the segment

Distance of a point and a straight line:

if the point is contained in the straight line, then the distance is 0.

If the point is not contained in the straight line, then the distance of them is the length of the perpendicular segment dropped from the point to the straight line

Distance between two straight lines in the same plane:

If the straight lines intersect, their distance is 0

If they are parallel, then their distance is the length of the perpendicular segment dropped from any point of the first straight line to the other one.

Distance between a point and a plane:

If the point is in the plane, the distance is 0.

If the point is not in the plane, then the distance of them is the length of the perpendicular segment dropped from the point to the plane.

Distance between a straight line and a plane:

If the straight line is in the plane,or intersects it, the distance is 0.

If the straight line is not in the plane, then the distance of them is the length of the perpendicular segment dropped from any point of the straight line to the plane.

Distance between two planes:

If the planes intersect each other, the distance is 0.

If the planes do not intersect each other, then the distance of them is the length of the perpendicular segment dropped from any point of the first plane to the other one.
