Zero: the zero of a function is that point of the domain of a function for which the substitutional value is equal to zero. (that point of the graph which intersects the x-axis)
Monotonicity:
If f(x1)>f(x2) of an interval for any x1<x2, then the function is said to be decreasing in the interval
If f(x1)<f(x2) of an interval for any x1<x2, then the function is said to be increasing in the interval
Extremes:
A function has a minimum at x0 if the function does not assume values smaller than f(x0)
A function has a maximum at x0 if the function does not assume values larger than f(x0)
